This week we were enticed to participate in YouTube's Project Report assignment. In the assignment we are asked to find a person of interest. A person who represents a strong community and more importantly, one who is willing to be filmed over a 24-hour period. Finding someone who deserves the honor was easy, finding someone who deserves the honor with time in the next week to be filmed....not so easy.

At first we went for a family friend of mine. A Jesuit priest who not only lives to serve his community but one who spent much of his young adult life doing the same things that take over the everyday college students life. He drank, he partied, he experimented with undisclosed substances -- he did what any normal college student did, he lived. After graduation he found his calling. He hung up his party shoes and exchanged them for a clerical collar. Needless to say he would of been a fine candidate for our project but unfortunately his life of service doesn't work like a drive-through window and our efforts to get in conntact with him have been futile.

On to the next candidate i guess...

Feeling Diversifed

My Family is what diversification means to me. I have divorced grandparents, a step-grandfather, a gay uncle, a black brother, two inter-racial nephews, and a partridge in a pear treeee.

They are what makes me diversified. They are my beautiful quirks and the colors in my somewhat beige existence. Without them i am quintessential, with them I am extraordinary.

Empire of Illusion

Here is a family guy clip i found on youtube that personifies much of what Chris Hedges is discussing in chapter one of his book "Empire of Illusion."

It emphasizes the obsessive nature of television programing and the need to feel appreciated, i.e. WATCHED
